Rocket launchers!

Stalingrad is at the end of the scenario paintball season for many and normally a cold, if not wet event for the hardened players amongst us. Although this year was blessed with a clear and warm day, perfect for winter paintball. Winter paintball involves good winter paint, once again provided by GI in their heated wagon. Also on stand-by was Chris from the Super5’s shop, providing many paintball related consumables and goodies. Dan, Clare and Ed once again provided Bullswood Skirmish for us to stomp around unhindered. The game-day was split into several mini games, with attack and defend scenarios, although Bullswood is a comparatively small site to many, they have been hosting the Stalingrad event for many years and they know how to make the games flow well.

German General Mike Taitt and the South Coast Reapers.

The added pyrotechnics were on hand again in the form of mortars, RPGs and smokes to add to the atmosphere. Unfortunately the famous battle tank was out of action for the Russians to use – not for want of trying and furious last min repairs and tinkering to get the beast rolling again – not that it detracted from the game play too much. Highlights had to be the mad dashes to move the Russian flag against a wall of paint and the occasional RPG pyro.

Capital Killerz lead the Russian faction.

Mike Taitt from GI and Ronin once again led the German faction (to victory) against Arron Thorp and the Capital Killerz being the Russians. Teams rolling with the victorious Germans included; The Heathens, Titan Wolves, Demon Legion, OAPB, Army of Fools, South Coast Reapers. Repping the Russians were Capital Killerz, Virst, Going Postal, Universal Exports, Vanguards as well as many players that are not affiliated with any team in particular (sorry if we left anyone out of the list).

Russian forces never gave up, Yellow Guy from The Vanguards leads a charge, along side Capital Killerz and others.

Stalingrad is one of the originals and still going strong with the game becoming a staple of the UK scenario paintball calendar. The scenario paintball scene has taken a bit of a blow this year with numbers down across many events and several cancelling all together, numbers at Stalingrad seemed to be a bit lower than last year, but the teams were still buzzing and it certainly didn’t affect the gameplay. So what makes teams return year on year? We think it’s the love and passion the team at Bullswood have for this event – it comes through in the enjoyable day they provide for us, relaxed and fun skirmishes with mates and classic scenario balling.

One on the list for next year, always a good fun day out.
